Cos (Dodécanèse)

Cos or Kos (in Greek old Κῶς , modern Κως ) is a Greek island belonging to the archipelago of the Dodécanèse, in the Aegean Sea.
Its main activities are the Tourisme and the Agriculture: in addition to Cereal S (Corn and Corn), the island produces Amande S, Figue S, Olive S, Tomate S and Laitue - another name of the Roman is “lettuce of Cos”. The Vigne is also cultivated.
The main city also bears the name of Cos. It is the tourist and cultural center of the island. The entry of the port is controlled by a fort set up in 1315 by the knights of the order of Midsummer's Day of Jerusalem.
In the Antiquity, Cos had a medical school considered, the brotherhood of the Asclépiades. Hippocrates is undoubtedly the most famous native of the island.
