Corteo

Corteo is a spectacle of the Cirque of the Sun whose North-American round started in 2005. Corteo (which means “Italian procession”) is a merry procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown.

Combining lifting prowesses, comedy and set of actors, Corteo the spectator in a theatrical universe plunges impresses ludic behavior and of spontaneousness, located in a strange space between sky and ground. In an environment of fun fair, the clown evokes his own funeral, under the attentive glance of a flight of benevolent angels. Opposing the large one and the small one, the ridiculous one and the tragedy, the magic of the perfection and the charm of the imperfection, the spectacle calls upon the force and the brittleness of the clown, but also with its wisdom and its tenderness, to illustrate the share of humanity of each one of us. Carried by sometimes lyric sonorities, sometimes cocasses, Corteo are a timeless festival where the illusion tickles reality.
