Corsica Forti

Corsica Forti which will become later Forti is an old stable of automobile sport Italian which in particular began in Formule 1 at the time of the championship of the world 1995 then championship of the world 1996 (that it did not finish). Forti took down 23 qualifications in GP, its best result in race is one 7th place (Diniz in Australia in 1995) and its best qualification is one 19th place (Badoer in Brazil 1996).

History

Corsica Forti is a stable which has well-established in Italy since 1978. Guido Forti, its founder, made it possible many Italian pilots to make their first weapons in national Formule 3, then in intercontinental championship of Formule 3000. Gianni Morbidelli became champion of Italy de F3 thanks to Forti and continued the adventure out of F 3000 where it signed the record of four consecutive victories. In 1995, after 51 victories in F3, 4 championships of Italy de F3 and 5 victories out of F 3000, Corsica Forti tries the bet of Formula 1.

Financial means being limited to begin in F1, Forti engages the Brazilian pilot Pedro Diniz which had led already at his place for two years out of F 3000 (one 2nd place and two 4th places). The Diniz family has more the large chain of large surfaces of the country and Pedro is supported by the Brazilian large companies (Arisco, Sadia, Unibanco…). The Brazilian sums of money are the independent source of financing of the modest stable. The lack of references of Diniz is worth to him to pass an examination near TRUSTED to take down its superlicence. Guido Forti engages Roberto Moreno, on request for Diniz, the second baptized single-seater FG01-95, which is actually F3000 modified for F1 and motorized by V8 Ford ED, simple and tested mechanics, ideal for the small teams.

The season begins rather well for Diniz, which plays in residence and finishes 10th of its first GP, but with 7 turns from the Schumacher winner. With the following GP, in Argentina, the two single-seaters finish not-classified. The continuation of the season will be enamelled abandonments in race (17), but also of beautiful services like the 9th place of Diniz in Italy or one 7th place of same Diniz in Australia for the GP of fence. If the team did not mark any point, it seems promising.

In 1996, Forti Corsica becomes Forti but loses its Brazilian supports. Indeed Diniz leaves to Ligier and Guido Forti must at all costs find a budget to ensure its season. It cannot put in building site a new single-seater and is satisfied to put in conformity the frame FG01-95 which becomes FG01-95B. This one receives the block V8 Ford EC. (ex-Zetec R). Too much occupied seeking subsidies for its stable, Forti leaves of them the reins to Stirano, which will be replaced by Cesare Fiorio, which will be replaced by Ryton after the GP of Spain. Andrea Montermini sign a contract of first pilot, supported by Franck Lagorce. But Lagorce will be replaced before the first GP by Luca Badoer and will never run to Forti.

The season begin with a double not-qualification in Australia, then two modest abandonments and two places (11th for Badoer in Brazil and 10th for Montermini in Argentina). The double not-qualification with the GP of Europe imposes the replacement of the FG01-95B by the new FG03-96. But the results are not with the height of the hopes in spite of the 10th place of Badoer with Marine Saint: 4 not-qualifications and 5 abandonments in race. The situation becomes dramatic with the GP of England where the cars cannot be qualified (they do not have engine following a non-payment of the invoices). As it is the same with the GP of Germany and Hungary, Forti, bloodless, and not being able to find new financings, sees itself constrained to stop the adventure in F1.
