Corrosive (melody ornament)
In the Western tonal music, a corrosive is a melody ornament taking the shape of a fast beat between the principal note (the written note) and the close, higher or lower note. Following the example Trille or appoggiatura, it can be faded. It is indicated either by small notes, or by a special sign (see example below).
