Correction

The correction of a machine element is an operation intended to improve its surface quality.

Principle

Correction is carried out on a Machine-outil conceived for this purpose: the Grinding machine. It is a question of thus rectifying , to standardize desired surface in order to eliminate the friction which it could generate while coming into contact with another part.

Plane correction consists of a horizontal grinding of the part in order to eliminate on several occasions from the layers of materials going from 20 to 40 Micromètre S (0,0005 to 0,001 inch). Here, the part is fixed and carries out a uniaxial back and forth pass (left right-hand side).

In the same way, correction doubles face consists in rectifying the two faces of the part at the same time.

In the case of cylindrical correction , the part rotates while carrying out its race along the grinding stone.

Today with the appearance of the new processes of machining at high speed, one also sees appearing a new process called Rectification high speed.

Contrary to traditional machining (crossing removal of chips by tools), correction allows machinings of high dimensional accuracy thanks to the principles of the Abrasion.

Various types of grinding stones

  • Vitrified traditional
  • Boron nitride (Borazon)

In each case it is different by:

  • variety of the grain (aluminum oxide, carburizes silicon, diamond, etc)
  • size of the grain
  • space between each grain
  • the binder
  • the diameter and the width

  • To be able to reach dimensional tolerances about the micrometer (0,001 mm)
  • Obtenir thorough surface qualities (< 0,1 Ra)
  • Permet to be less precise on machining
