Corrado Alvaro

Corrado Alvaro (born the April 15th 1895 with San Luca, in the Province of Reggio of Calabria, Calabria, Italy - died the June 11th 1956 with Rome) was a writer, Journaliste and Poète Italy N of first half of the 20th century.

Biography

Corrado Alvaro nacquit in the south of Italy with San Luca in the Province of Reggio of Calabria. It is the first of the six children of Antonio (a teacher) and Antonia Giampaolo (girl of small holders). In 1915, at the time of the First World War, it enlists in a regiment of Infanterie to Florence. Wounded in September 1916, whereas it is with Savogna d' Isonzo, it returns to Rome where it starts to work for the newspaper It Restaurant del Carlino, for which it will become then writer. The April 8th 1918, it marries a bolonaise: Laura Babini.

In 1919, it moves with Milan and collaborates with the newspaper Corriere beyond Will be. Always in 1919, it obtains the laurea (the equivalent of the master) in letters with the Université of Milan. In 1921, it becomes corresponding Parisian newspaper It Mondo founded by Giovanni Amendola. In 1925, one finds it among the signatories of proclamation of the intellectuals antifascists of Benedetto Croce. During following years, it continues its journalistic activities starting from Berlin (1928), of the Italy (1930), of the Turkey (1931) and of the Russia (1935). In 1945, with Libero Bigiaretti and Francesco Jovine, it founds the national union of the writers ( Sindacato Nazionale Scrittori ) of which he will be secretary until his death. At that time, it also creates the national bank of the writers ( Cassa Nazionale Scrittori ). In 1947, it briefly directs the newspaper Risorgimento , of Naples, but it will resign for reason policies: declaring itself on the left it cannot direct a newspaper Libéral.

In 1951, it gains the first Italian price Strega for its book Quasi una vita . Alvaro is buried in small the Cimetière of Viterbe where it had bought a large country house in 1939. In the library Pietro De Nava of Reggio of Calabria, a room bears its name.
