Cornillon-Confoux
Cornillon-Confoux is a common French, located in the department of the Rhone delta and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure. Its inhabitants is called Cornillonnais. It belongs to the Trade union of new agglomeration Western Provence.
Geography
History
As of the Neolithic final various pastoral and agricultural tribes on the site of the commune. An alley of the Sarcophagi beside the cemetery contains tombs of Ier century. The last celto-Ligurians, dominated by the Greeks of Massalia, were combined to the Romans. After many invasions, the territory of Cornillon becomes property of the Counts de Provence before being attached to the archbishop's palace of Arles. The name Cornellum appears in X°. The XI°, the arrival of the monks of Montmajour made it possible the village to thrive prosperity: The marshes were drained and agriculture developed. In XIIe the church Saint-Vincent-of-Paul was built. It was aggrandie with the XIX°, and turned towards the West. Another characteristic, is drawn up just beside the church a statue of a Vierge enclosure going back to 1865. In 1852 the Belfry (17 meters) was built. The earthquake of 1909 caused various damage (destruction of the tympanum of the church) November 3rd, 1918, several existing Cornillon in France, the commune was famous Cornillon-Confoux.
