Cornelius or Cornelis Galle Old the , born with Antwerp in 1576 and died in Antwerp the March 29th 1650, is the Flemish engraver, most famous of a dynasty of engravers.
Life and work
Wire of Philippe Galle, brother of Theodore Galle, father of Cornelius Galle the Young person, it are especially known for his engravings according to Rubens. Of a voyage to Rome undertaken in company of his/her Theodore brother, Cornélius brings back innumerable engravings according to Raphaël, the Carracci, Titien, Guido Reni and others. He is the author of many collections of engravings sets of themes, in particular Of symbolis heroicis .
