Cornelius Écoutum
Cornélius Écoutum ( Cornelius Coot in VO) is a Personnage of fiction of the Univers of ducks of Disney, created by the draftsman Carl Barks in 1952. Founder of Donaldville and the State of the Calisota, it is according to Don Rosa, the back-back-large-father of Donald.
As cartoons
Its first appearance took place in a history of Carl Barks in March 1952, the War of the statues ( Statuesque Spendthrifts ). Picsou and a billionaire quarrels with blow of increasingly large statues of Cornélius, founder of the city. The last statue of Picsou, representing the holding founder of ears of Corn, was used with association of the friends as Cornelius to perpetuate his memory.In a history of Gift Rosa, Its Majesty Picsou Ier , was told the history of the foundation of Strong Donaldville.
Biography
Cornélius Écoutum (1790-1880) was born American citizen. Its ancestors took part in the beginnings of the colonization of the east coast of the North America.Trapper since years, it arrives at the height British of Drake Boroough, on the coast Pacifique, in 1818 to make trade with the soldiers. But, the fort is taken by the Spanish soldiers. To be able to flee the fort, its commander signs an official renunciation in favor of Cornelius. This last manages to make flee the Spaniards with Maïs heated in Popcorn which will terrorize those, making believe that demons attack them.
Sole owner, it baptizes the place Fort Donaldville ( Fort Duckburg in English). In 1821, Calisota is included in independent Mexico, even if the village and the farms of Donaldville remain rather autonomous.
During this period, Cornélius founds a militia, which inspired with his/her son the Castors Juniors ( Junior Woodchucks ). He also discovers an old tunnel of the 16th century when he discovers the remainders of Fenton Penworthy and the manuscript which he wrote (see the lost Library ).
In 1848, Calisota and California are annexed by the the United States. Cornelius remains nevertheless the important character of the area.
