Corentyne

The river Corentyne also called Courantyne or Corantijn is a river located at the North of the South America. The sources of this river are located at the north of the Monts Acarai from there the river runs in direction of north until the Atlantic Ocean on 724 km acting as border between Guyana and Suriname. At the edge of its mouth are located the towns of Corriverton at the Guyana and of Nieuw Nickerie with the Suriname connected between them by a ferry.

Small boats of open sea can go up the course of the river on 70 kilometers starting from the mouth and this until with the first rapids with Orealla.

Water falls

Upstream are located the high King Edward VIII Falls 259 m and the King George VI Falls high 488 meters.
