Corellon Larethian

Corellon Larethian is the principal god of the elves in the standard cosmology of the Roleplay Donjons and dragons , and in the decorations of countryside of Greyhawk and of the forgotten Royaumes. Incarnating all the ideals elfic, it is at the same time warlike and artist.

Description

Corellon is a divinity androgyne, who can take as well a female form as male. It created the elves, and directs the Seldarine, the Pantheon elf.

It holds at the same time the role of warrior-magus, guard of the elves, and craftsman, artist and musician. In spite of its wisdom, there remains humble and especially open to the training.

Mythology

In a deep past, Corellon Larethian fought in duel against Gruumsh, the creator of the orcs. Corellon was victorious in extremis and made lose an eye with the god orc.

There was also a terrible fight against Lolth, which led to the exile of the black elves. In the forgotten Kingdoms, Lolth was called Araushnee, and was formerly the wife of Corellon, but its corruption led to a three thousand year old war between its partisans and those of Corellon. However, in other decorations of countryside, Lolth is a prince-demon which tries to influence the elves of outside.

Corellon takes part finally in the myth of Lafarallinn, a legendary prowler elf who fought the evil hard and pitilessly until Corellon makes him meet a young robber sick elf. Whereas Lafarallin was going to kill it, Corellon gave him a lesson while showing to him the causes of the misfortune of the robber. The prowler took finally pity and tried, in vain, to look after the girl dying, contracting the disease itself. Corellon, considering the lesson learned, ignored the business, until several years later Lafarallinn presents to him by showing a statuette of the young girl, and the pain that it had been necessary for him to carve it with its sick hands. This time, it was thus Corellon which accepted a lesson, to have forgotten the implications of the application of justice.
