A cordillera is a chain of Montagne S lengthened and narrow generally resulting from the meeting of two tectonic plates.
The most famous cordilleras are those of the the Himalayas in Asia, and that of the the Andes in South America.
Etymology
The word cordillera comes from the Spanish will cordillera (of cordel , small cord).
