Corded butterfly fish of Red Sea

corded Poisson-papillon of Red Sea ( Chaetodon austriacus ) is a Espèce of Poisson S of the family of the Chaetodontidae.

Sub-genus

The corded butterfly fish of Red Sea is a butterfly fish which belongs to the sub-genus Corallochaetodon . In 1984, André Maugé and Roland Bauchot proposed to integrate this sub-genus in a new kind, Mesochaetodon , which would give like scientific name for this fish Mesochaetodon austriacus .

Morphology

  • Size: up to 14 cm.

Its body is yellow with small blue longitudinal bands, the black back and the white dorsal fin.

Biology and ecology

It is a coral fish, and which nourishes coral.

Distribution

The corded butterfly fish of Red Sea meets in the Red Sea, as its name indicates it, or in the vicinity (Golfe of Aden).

Use

One can meet this fish out of aquarium, but it is difficult to nourish, because of its very specialized food.
