Cordélia (U VI Cordelia) is the satellite more the intern of Uranus.
Cordélia was discovered in 1986 by the probe Voyager 2, from where its temporary designation S/1986 U 7 . Except its orbital ray and an estimate of its dimensions, one knows only few things about it.
Cordélia and Ophélie are used to maintain the ring epsilon of Uranus. It is thus about a the Moon shepherdess. Cordélia is located in on this side ray of the synchronous Orbite; i.e. its orbit is so low that it takes him less time to carry out the full rotation of Uranus than Uranus puts to make a full rotation on itself. The forces of tide exerted by Uranus thus slow down slowly Cordélia, which loses altitude and will finish one day by being crushed on Uranus.
It draws its name from the more young girl of the king Lear in the part of William Shakespeare.
