Corbas

Corbas is a common French, located in the department of the the Rhone and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

Corbas, town of 9.486 inhabitants (census 2006), to 10 km in the south-east of Lyon, in border of Large Lyon, to which it belongs since 1969. The commune develops on 1.190 hectares.

History

Corbas is in the beginning a very old rural village: excavations carried out at the time of the construction of Southern the Urbain Boulevard thus made it possible to update the evidence of an occupation of its site at the time Gallo-Roman.

The village appears then, in a document going back to 937, under the name of “Corbatis Villa”.

The village becomes a commune that in 1860 after its separation with Marennes.

In 1967 following a departmental regrouping Corbas is included in the department of the Rhone in the canton of Fons Saint and with the 14th district of the department of the Rhone.

From the years 1950, Corbas starts a deep change which will make of it a city passing of 730 inhabitants in 1954 with his current dimension.
