History
- In 1850, Jacques Delhaize, wine merchant, imagines and applies in Belgium the principle of the succursalism, of the sales outlets delivered by a central warehouse. One of its sons, Louis Delhaize, develops a company which is at the origin of the current group.

At the beginning of the 20th century, their descendants, Georges and Rene Delhaize, settles in North and Is France. The first creates the Docks of North with Lille. The second buys Sanal with Nancy and Sadal with Strasbourg.
