Coprophagie

The coprophagie (or scatophagie ), consists, for a Animal, to nourish excrements of the other animals.

The animals coprophages play a crucial role in the mechanisms of Métabolisation and Recirculation of the dead Organic matter (died sheets, died animals, excrements).

It is, for the majority, of the Insectes Coléoptère S or Diptère S. Généralement these insects are specific excrements of an animal. It is the case, for example, of the insects which attend the excrements of large ongulés alive in the European forests, African savannas or of those which the man domesticated.

The principal insects coprophages are the Bousier S, of the Mouche S and the Cafard S.

Some fish species also adopted this behavior.

Coprophagie, a psychiatric symptom

The coprophagie forms also part of psychiatric semiology and belongs in nosography to the disorders of the instinctual conduits.

Certain very regressed patients develop food conduits being able to lead to the absorbtion of their own excrements.

One can observe it in hebephrenes (schizophrenia teenager marked mainly by the dissociative syndrome) or the demented people (important cognitive deficit, or severe confusional syndrome)
