Cop-on-Vesgre

Cop-on-Vesgre is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France.

Geography

The commune of Cop-on-Vesgre is located in the median west of the department, in western limit of the main forest of Rambouillet, in the east of a plain slightly undulating and timbered which confines the north of the flat of Beauce, the Pays houdanais.

It is, by the road, with approximately close 41 kilometers in the west of Versailles and with approximately 31 kilometers in the south of Mantes-the-Pretty, the chief town of district. Houdan, chief town of canton, is with 8 kilometers with the North-West and Rambouillet with 19 kilometers in south-east.

The commune is sprinkled by the Vesgre, small tributary river of the the Eure, which runs according to an axis south-north, and just receives in the communal north of the limit a small tributary brook on its line.

The village itself and the hamlet of the Hallier , joined today, gather the essence of the habitat of the commune. The hamlet of the Breuil on the RD983, is divided with Grandchamp and Adainville.

The communes bordering are Gambaiseuil in the North-East, Saint-Leger-in-Yvelines in the east, the Boissière-School in the extreme south-east, Adainville in the south, Grandchamp in the extreme south-west, Boutigny-Prouais (Eure-et-Loir) in the west, on approximately 600 meters, and Bourdonné in the North-West.

The secondary road 983 crosses the driving village, towards north, with Bourdonné and, beyond that, with Mantes-the-Pretty and, towards south-west, with Grandchamp and, beyond that, with Nogent-the-King in the department of Eure-et-Loir. The secondary road 936 which starts slightly in the north of the village, on the commune of Bourdonné avoids, it by the east while crossing the hamlet being next to of the Hallier and led, towards south-east, with Saint-Leger-in-Yvelines, Rambouillet and, with beyond with Saint-Arnoult-in-Yvelines.
The RD983 has a layout with right angle in the village, in the sense that with the central crossroads it constitutes the streets north and west whereas the street towards the west leads to the RD936 and the street towards the south is the secondary road 71 which leads to Adainville and with the Boissière-School. With only 200 meters of the known as crossroads, the secondary road 63 starts and joined, in direction of south-east, the RD936 in the hamlet of the Hallier . Taking influence on the RD983 in its layout towards south-west, the secondary road 147 starts with approximately 300 meters of the aforesaid crossroads and carries out, towards the west, with Boutigny-Prouais.

In the railway plan, the station the SNCF nearest is the Gare of Houdan to nine kilometers in north.

History

The name of the commune, formerly Condatum , derived from confluens , confluence, is related to the geographical position of the city.

Cop-on-Vesgre is the site of one of the most important attempts at practical application of the idea of Phalanstère of Charles Fourier.
