Cooperation Council of the Gulf
The Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf (Arab: مجلسالتعاونلدولالخليج) or Cooperation Council of the Gulf (CCG) (Arab: مجلسالتعاونالخليجي) is an regional organization gathering the six Arab States Persian Gulf.
History
The council was creates under the impulse of the Saudi Arabia and under the pressure of the the United States the May 25th 1981. It is made up of Saudi Arabia, of the sultanate of Oman, the Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates as well as Qatar.
The council has a goal primarily economic and social, the political questions are seldom mentioned there. The purpose of it is to found in the Gulf a Common Market. As of on December 1st, 1981, the Member States open their economic borders with the goods produced in the area. The purpose of the council is also to ensure the economic stability and policy of the area, and a unification of the economic system and financier of the States of the council. The organization was creates at the time of the Guerre Iran-Iraq, one of its principal goals were to counter the expansionism Iran IEN and to counter the Baath ism Iraq IEN. With the end of the war, Saddam Hussein creates a concurrent organization, the Arab Cooperation Council (CCA). The CCA gathered the Jordan, the Iraq, the Yemen of north and the Egypt, it was very hostile with the Saoudi kingdom. The August 10th 1990, the States of the council support the war against Iraq. The fall of Saddam Hussein involves the end of the CCA, and Yemen is currently being negotiated to adhere to the council, it should become member in 2016.
At the beginning of March 2007, anxious by the progression of the Avian flu due to the virus H5N1 HP with the Kuwait, the committee of the Health of the CCG decided to work this question on the scale of the under-area.
