Coop (Alsace)
The Union of the Co-operators of Alsace , or Coop Alsace , is a company Coopérative of Distribution, founded in 1902 with Strasbourg under the name of Konsumverein für Strassburg und Umgegend . It amalgamated in 1967 with the Co-operators of Mulhouse, then in 1972 with the Co-operators of Colmar to become the first Alsatian distributer independent.
It operates today under the signs Rond point (Hypermarché S), Maxi (Supermarché S), Coop , Point Coop (Supérette S and sales outlets), the Mutant and Mutant Express train (Hard discount). It also exploits some cafeterias.
Its chairman is Yves Zehr.
