In 1959, two young men kill an whole family with Holcomb, Kansas, without apparent mobile. Truman Capote, falling by chance on the article briefly treating this crime, takes the party suddenly to report this history with the highhest degree of accuracy. For that, it leaves New York and leaves to settle some time with Holcomb, in order to collect the maximum of information on the way in which the crime proceeded. It thus collects the testimony and the opinion of the population and the local authorities, and especially it meets and questions the assassins themselves in their cell. The text ends up depicting the psychology of two sensitive young men, corroded by a multitude of interior demons, and having rocked accidentally in the crime.

This Best-seller, traditional of the American literature of the 20th century, was sold with more than 8 million specimens. It was worth in Truman Capote an immense glory, but also precipitated it in a depression which it did not leave any more, touched forever by its meeting with Perry Smith, one of the two assassins, and in which it was recognized such as it would have been, if it had not decided to be a writer.

Anecdote

Of cold blood was adapted to the cinema by Richard Brooks as of 1967. But the history of the writing of this novel, as attractive as the fact various itself, provided later the screen of two other films, Truman Capote and Scandaleusement celebrates , and of a cartoon, Capote in Kansas, all three carried out almost simultaneously.
