Convey Sorefame
The cars Sorefame indicate a type of Voiture of railroad used by the Railroads Portuguese (CP). Its name comes from the company which builds them, the Sorefame or Sociedades Reúnidas de Fabricações Metálicas (Union of the companies of steel construction).
Introduced between 1963 and 1975, these cars with case and stainless steel structure were born from collaboration between the Portuguese company and the american company Budd Company. It is more the big family of cars of railroad of the CP. They are partly inspired by the cars DEV. stainless of the SNCF.
Use
These cars were used for any type of lines, more “prestigious” (South-Express train, Foguete, Miragaia - São Jorge, Invicta-Sete Colinas) or of the regional trains. Following the modernization of the railroads, the cars of origin were given up by many lines, but they are always used by the South Express train, of the interregional lines, the extra trains or the hirings. Others however were modernized and are used by the network InterCidades (InterCités).Several cars were also sold with the Argentine.
