Epitanime convention

The Convention of the animation of the EPITA is held each year at the end of May/at the beginning of June in the very buildings of the school of the same name, and gathers several thousands of amateurs of Japanese culture (more than 6.900 in 2005). This convention is organized by Epitanime association of the school.

At the time of this event, many associations partners, sponsors, shops, Fanzine S… propose always more linked activities with the Japanese culture during two to three days.

Other conventions took place before those, but they were not numbered as of the beginning and the history of association before 1995 is little known.

Presentation of association

Epitanime is an association of fans of japanimation and Japanese culture located at the the Kremlin-Bicêtre in the south of Paris.

It is one of oldest and of greatest associations of the school Epita, it is opened with all, pupils of the school or not. Many external takes part regularly in the activities of association, as so organizing spectators but.

The word Toyunda (Epitanime Toyunda!) come from the compression of the Japanese expression “to iu N da” meaning “to be called” or “known as”. Its origin goes up with a member of association not having included/understood well the sentence “Bakuretsu Hunters to iu N da” (drawn from the series Bakuretsu Hunters), and which compressed the end of the sentence in only one mot.

The activities of association are centered around the Manga and of Japanese animation (Anime, but also Video games, Jeu of go and Japanese Culture in general).

It is also a point of meeting for many people interested by the Japanese culture, of the language itself to food, while passing by the activities with the mode in Japan: Martial arts, Dance Dance Revolution, Cosplay, films amateurs…

The most known activity of Epitanime is the Karaoké.
