Convention of Rotterdam

The Convention of Rotterdam is a International convention engaged by the Programme of the United Nations for the environment (PNUE).

The purpose of the convention of Rotterdam is to oblige the exporters of chemicals dangerous to inform the importing State of the toxicity of the products and to obtain the assent of this one before importation.

That gives the possibility of deciding which are the potentially dangerous chemicals or pesticides that they want to receive and to refuse those which they are not able to manage in full safety.

This convention, sometimes called Convention Peak (for prior informed authorizes ) was opened with the signatures on September 10th, 1998.
