Silmido is a South Korean film carried out by Kang Wu-seok, left the December 24th 2003.
Synopsis
In 1968, the South Korean government sets up a center of military training on the island of Silmido in order to form unit 684. This one will be sent to Pyongyang with an aim of assassinating the president North-Korean Kim It-sung. Against any waiting, following a bringing together with the North Korea, the KCIA forces the execution of the 31 members of the commando in order not to reveal their plan at the great day.

- Silmido is the first South Korean film to cross the bar of the ten million spectators.
- the film is based on events having really taken place. After commandos North-Korean had tried to assassinate the South Korean president Park Chung-hee in 1972, gournement on South Korea decided to retort by forming a unit of commandos with an aim of assassinating the president of North. The unit made up of prisoners was condemned to the capital punishment. During their drive, following a bringing together with North, the government of the South gave up the idea and was on the point of killing all the unit so that the project is never made public. Having had wind of this kind, the prisoners revolted.
