Controller of level
CONTROLLER OF LEVEL
Very simple apparatus equipping the Boiler S with vapor. The steam boiler must be used to produce vapor, which will be distributed in the apparatuses of heating (radiators), will condense by giving up its latent heat and will turn over to the boiler by the tubes of return. The safety of the boiler includes/understands a valve of safety, which will avoid any overpressure, and a controller of level which ensures the filling partial of the boiler. To produce vapor, the boiler should never be full. The level of walk established approximately to the 2/3 of the capacity of the boiler.
This equipment includes/understands a body which contains a float. The back part of this float while rocking from top to bottom ensures two contacts:
1- It completes, for example, when the water level is reached, it allows the food of the burner
2- It opens a circuit, in general it cuts off the supply of one or two electromagnetic sluice gates on the cold water supply of the boiler. This food is necessary because the circuit return does not restore all the water which leaves towards the radiators.
Partly low, a valve makes it possible to drain the controller. A very widespread model is McDONELL 67 of ITT McDONNEL & MILLER. Body out of cast iron and brass float.
To clearly indicate the water level in the boiler, the controller is ridden in parallel with a small circuit of water made up of a tube out of Pyrex glass and of two valves which make it possible to insulate the tube, for example to replace it.
This equipment is essential to the operation of a steam boiler low pressure since it ensures the water supply, the permanence of the level and safety basic so that the burner is not started in the event of lack of water. The operating pressure is very low between 10 and 100 G of pressure.
