The contreculture is a whole of cultural values forming a structured whole and being opposed to the system ideologically dominating. In the Years 1970, it characterizes the explosion of the protest movements of youth towards the cultural Domination of the Bourgeoisie: the time is strongly marked by a political idealism which tends towards the Gauchisme and the Maoïsme; towards the sexual Puritanism: it is the beginning of the sexual Révolution. They are currents born in the years soixantes in the United States (culture Hippie in particular) and which hatches after May 68 in France.

In France, the contreculture was represented by bodies of press like the daily newspaper Libération (first time), the magazine Actuel (first and second time) then Novamag, the Parallèles bookstore, the first free radios, the independent labels of music, the editions Of the Women, etc And more recently a whole a panoply of new bodies of information such as certain reviews like Arabesques or BoXon or Against-litéralités were organized to follow the movement.

    • But also the Romanticism (it is interesting to note that this movement, which, at the time, shocked much to upset the traditional esthetic ideals, now is regarded as completely integrated and compared to the culture.)
