Contrabando

DR400 is a private plane single-engined aircraft of the company Avions Pierre Robin, which has had for summer repurchased by APEX Aviation.

It appeared in 1972 by evolution of the range of DR300 (DR. are the initial ones of Jean Délémontez and Pierre Robin). One finds the same powers available besides about, the various models varying especially by the motorization, the cabin being identical. Not very powerful models, until the 120  CH, is known as “2+2”, i.e. for 2 adults and 2 children (or 3 adults), the others all are four-seater, 180 ch taking along without problem 4 passengers, the full of one gasoline and some luggage. The design of the plane is old, it is a timber structure cloth-lined with low wing out of V. the low wing makes it possible to have an excellent visibility. It is of type Jodel, very characteristic. It has a three-wheeled train, easier to pose than a traditional train.

It is still currently very present in the majority of the French flying-clubs, and more largely in Europe. This plane enjoys a good reputation both for the school the voyages.

Since the beginning of the years 2000, there exists a “Diesel” version economic to replace the traditional Lycoming engines whose consumption becomes problematic with the flight of the price of the gasoline aviation.

  • DR400-135CDI (diesel engine Centurion Thielert 1.7 of 135 ch)
