Continental circuits of cycling

The continental Circuits are programmes of tests of cycle races on roads set up by the UCI in 2005. These calendars come in complement from that from the ProTour. These tests are opened to the teams of the Pro-Turn, with continental the teams known as “Pro” (ex-D2) and those known as simply continental (ex-D3). Certain tests also open their doors with formations amateurs or semi-professional.

There exist five continental circuits: Africa Turn, America Turn, Asia Turn, Europe Tower and Oceania Turn.

Prize list

Each circuit gives place to a classification according to the points delivered at the time of each test the component (it should be noted that the runners evolving/moving in teams of the ProTour do not mark points on the tests of the continental circuits). At the end of the season, the classifications make it possible to reward the winners of each continental circuit, as well as the best team.

Hierarchy of the races

The points are allotted to the runners according to a scale which differs according to the category of the test. There on the whole exist six categories of tests, symbolized by a first figure (1. or 2.), followed by a second figure or letters HC:
  • the first figure informs about the type of race: one day race (1.) or by stage (2.).
  • the second figure gives the level of the test: most difficult, delivering more points, HC (out-category) are classified; then the first and second categories come.
