Contacto
Contacto is a weekly magazine Luxembourg in Portuguese language, published by the " press group; saint-Paul luxembourg".
Beginnings: 1969-1987
Contacto was founded in January 1970 within Amizades Portugal-Luxemburgo (Portugal-Luxembourg Friendships, APL), in particular under the impulse of two men: Lucien Huss and Carlos of Fucked. During 1969, association had carried out a first test with the diffusion with its members of a sheet duplicated with practical informations and of news, entitled " O Imigrante" (The Immigrant), but association quickly notes the real need for a true newspaper in Portuguese language.The first years, the monthly magazine hardly exceeds the four duplicated pages and is distributed to Luxembourg with the members of the APL. After the Revolution of the eyelets, in 1974, it is printed in Portugal (in particular in Tipográfica de Gouveia).
The recovery: 1987-1996
In 1987, at the request of the APL, that cannot any more ensure the financial expenses of its publication and diffusion (small thousands of paying subscribers, + - 200 francs/an each), the newspaper is taken again by Printing works Saint-Paul (today saint-Paul group, which publishes more the famous daily newspaper of the country: of Wort, " Luxemburger Wort" or LW), which all while maintaining its monthly magazine publication, modernizes its graphics and its logo. The Drafting works with a freelance writer part-time and some collaborators, who ensure a regularity between 16 and 24 pages.
The revival: since 1997
In December 1996, a writer full-time is committed (Jose Correia) and in January 1997, the newspaper starts to appear every fifteen during the days. Pulling increases towards 15.000 specimens and almost all the Portuguese households of the Grand Duchy start to receive it. Gaston Roderes (journalist in Luxemburger Wort) is editor association, succeeding Emile Rossler.In March 1999, to face the appearance of a competitor (Correio) published by Editpress, Contacto becomes weekly and the team is reinforced. Pulling increases towards 20.000 specimens and extends to all the Portuguese-speaking households (c.à.d., in the precise case of Luxembourg: course-verdiens and Brazilian).
Contacto has since 2004 an average pulling bordering the 24.000 specimens, " what does of it one of the first newspapers of the pays" The newspaper has today between 16 and 32 pages on average, according to the editions.
In 2005/2006, according to the Study Plurimedia TNS/Ilres, the weekly magazine has an assistantship of 10,7% of all the residents (with 15 years and +).
At the beginning of Gaston Roderes in retirement, in August 2002, Marc Willière and Armand Thill (LW) are named in charge of Direction with-near with Contacto, and Jose Correia, person in charge of the Drafting. It will be named in May 2007 writer-in-chief.
The Drafting of Contacto is installed with the seat of the saint-Paul group, in Gasperich ( Luxembourg-city). The team currently counts four people, including three journalists. The newspaper (currently between 16 and 32 pages) has forty freelance correspondents, including four in Portugal.
