Consuelo Velázquez

Consuelo Velázquez Torres was a Mexican Pianiste and Compositeur (Ciudad Guzmán/Zapotlán el Grande, Jalisco, August 21st 1924 - Mexico City, January 22nd 2005).

Biography

When it had four years its family moved with the capital of the state of Jalisco, Guadalajara. At that time one detected at it a good ear and great aptitudes for the Musique, so that at six years it started to study the music and the Piano with the Serratos academy in Guadalajara.

After nine years of studies, she moved with Mexico City, where she continued her studies and obtained her diploma for the occupation of pianist concert performer and Master of music. She gave her concert of end of studies to the Palacio de Bellas Artes of the capital and shortly after she began her career of popular compositrice of music. As a concert performer, it was soloist with the National Symphony orchestra of Mexico and Philharmonic of the Universidad Nacional Autóma of Mexico City .

She is much more known for her compositions. Its first, No me pidas nunca , Pasional and Déjame quererte , were of romantic nature. Then appeared, inter alia, of the songs like Bésame mucho , Amar there to vivir , Verdad Amarga , Franqueza , Chiqui , Cachito , That seas feliz (begun again by Luis Miguel in its album “Mexico City in the piel”), Enamorada , Orgullosa there bonita and Yo No fled (dancing song popularized at the beginning by Pedro Infante and more recently by Pedro Fernández). The participation of Velázquez is noticed in Argentinian film of 1938 Noches of carnival , directed by the scenario writer Julio Saraceni and in Mexican films of the director Julián Soler it pasó the mano of 1952 and Mis padres divorcian in 1959, in addition to the documentary one on its life Consuelo Velázquez of 1992 and its participation like compositrice in various films also carried out in Mexico.

Its greater success, Bésame Mucho , Bolero composed in 1941 (at the 17 years age), became the melody which brought the most satisfaction to Velázquez, which became its calling card. After recordbeing recorded by the Mexican tenor Emilio Tuero, it was adapted first once in English in 1944 by the singer and pianist states-unien Nat King Cole. As from this moment this song was interpreted by hundreds of artists in the whole world, like The Beatles, The Flamingos, Xavier Cugat and its orchestra, The Ventures, Sammy Davis Jr., Lucho Gatica, Plácido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Ray Connif and its orchestra, Frank Sinatra and Luis Miguel.
