Constrained Marc

Marc Gené is a racing driver Spanish born the March 29th 1974 with Sabadell (Catalogne, Spain). Since the end of the year 2004, it is at the sides of Luca Badoer one of the pilots testers of the Scuderia Ferrari in Formule 1. In parallel, it also disputes the championship Mans Series on the Peugeot 908.

Biography

Pilot of karting since adolescence, Marc Gené begins in automobile sport in 1992, at the 18 years age, in the championship of Spain de Formule Ford. After a second season in F.Ford, it passes in 1994 in the championship of Great Britain of Formule 3.

After a passage little noticed in 1997 in the international championship of Formula 3000, the career of that which is then especially known to be the younger brother of Jordi takes off in 1998 following its victory in the inaugural championship of Formule Nissan in Spain. Thanks to the support of a powerful Spanish operator of telephony, Gené reaches the Formule 1 into 1999 within the stable Minardi. By gradually taking the ascending one on its fellow-member Luca Badoer, and by showing a remarkable regularity, Gené allures the bed. With the GP of Europe, with it is true the assistance of the circumstances (of which the abandonment in end of the road of Badoer), it has finished even sixth, bringing to Minardi its first point for several seasons. Taken back at Minardi for the season 2000, Gené remains faithful to its reputation of serious and regular pilot, but does not manage to carry out blows of glares likely to attract more crested teams.

In 2001, Gené is recruited by the powerful stable Williams - BMW, but in the capacity as pilot tester. This work of the shade enables him to find the starting grids to the GP of Italy 2003 when it must replace Ralf Schumacher wounded. With this occasion, Gené takes down honourable a fifth place. The following year, after a new unavailability of the junior by Schumacher, Gené disputes the GP of France and Great Britain. But disappointed by the rather dull performances of the Spanish pilot, Williams prefers miser on the other controls tester of the stable (Antonio Pizzonia) to continue the interim. With the end of the year, Gené leaves Williams to join Ferrari, always in the capacity as pilot tester. It always occupies this station today, even if because of the limitation of the private tests, its mileage is from now on strongly reduced.

Parallel to his work at Ferrari, Marc Gené takes part in 2007 in the championship Mans Series as in the 24 hours of Mans in the wheel of the prototype Peugeot 908, to which it offered his first victory as of his first exit in competition, at the time of the 1000 km of Monza in April 2007, as a crew with Nicolas Minassian.

Others

At the beginning of his career, Marc Gené was especially known to be the younger brother of Jordi Gené. Great hope of the Spanish automobile sport to the beginning of the year 1990, Jordi was to integrate in 1993 the " team; F1" cheer; , invited to become the first Spanish stable of F1 of the history. But the project finally never was born. It controls today in WTCC.

Marc Gené is one of the rare pilots to have continued long studies in parallel of his career in automobile sport. He is titular of a diploma in economy, and usually speaks several foreign languages.
