Constitution of the Federation of Russia

The Constitution of the Federation of Russia (КонституцияРоссийскойФедерации) current was adopted by national referendum on December 12th, 1993. It replaced, after the Russian constitutional crisis of 1993, the preceding constitution of the Soviet era of the 12 April 1978 into force then in the Soviet federative socialist République of Russia.

The text is divided into two sections:

“ Us, multinational people of the Federation of Russia, linked by a common destiny on our ground, affirming the rights and freedoms of the man, civil peace and the harmony, preserving the unit of the State historically made up, we basing on the universally recognized principles of equality in right and self-determination of the people, venerating the memory of the ancestors who transmitted the love and the respect of the Fatherland, the faith in the good and justice to us, making reappear the Sovereign state of Russia and making intangible its democratic base, aiming at ensuring the wellbeing and the prosperity of Russia, driven by the responsibility for our Fatherland in front of generations present and future, recognizing us like a share of the world community, let us adopt the CONSTITUTION OF the FEDERATION OF RUSSIA . ”
