Constantin Cantemir

Constantin Cantemir prince de Moldavie of 1685 with 1693.

Wire of the boyard Tudor Cantemir or Kantemyr born in Moldavie towards 1630, served in the Turkish army during the forwarding of Mehmed IV against the Poland; was distinguished with the battles of Choczim (1674), and was in charge of the defense of the borders between the Dniestr and the Prut. Cantemir occupied this station when Dumitrascu Cantacuzino, prince reigning of Moldavie, jealous of him, denounced it like traitor with the Séraskier Suleiman. Constantin justified and obtained the principality of his indicter, which was driven out by it in May (1685). He controlled Moldavie until his death the March 24th 1693.
