The consortium of line is a cooperation agreement between several Ship-owners intended to rationalize the proposed services with the chargers. According to the maritime law, it is more exactly " Joint exploitation of services of maritime transport between maritime companies of line, with an aim of rationalizing their operations by means of technical, operational and/or commercial arrangements, with the exeption of the prix".
The consortium of line goes still much further that, with the vulgarizing of the material shared by the Ship-owners, as well as the pooling also of the expenditure, the marketing policies to come out from it but only one (according to whether the consortium of line is with marketing integrated or separated) and of course, an organization (management) and a common office.
Altogether, the final goal of the consortium of line is the constitution of a regular maritime service and commun run for the Ship-owners.
