Conservatorium Maastricht
The Conservatorium Maastricht is located in the town of Maastricht and is one of new the conservatorium (university of music) of the Netherlands. The conservatorium is a faculty of the professional Université Université Zuyd (Hogeschool Zuyd in Dutch) for the program of Bachelor and " Zuid Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek" for the program of Master (Fontys Conservatorium (Tilburg) and Conservatorium Maastricht cooperate in this program); The formation found in the various academies of the Netherlands concerns the title " Hoger Beroepsonderwijs" (HBO), (specialized higher education or professional). The number of foreign students is approximately 65% originating of more than 20 different countries. After consultation, the students not speaking Dutch can pass from the examinations in French, German or English. Moreover, of the theses and any other work can be written in one of these three languages. Many lessons and courses can be offered in English. Conservatorium Maastricht has departments for the Classical music, the Jazz, the composition and the opera. Conservatorium proposes a program of professional Bachelor four years (BMus and BMus the ED) and a program “Postgraduate” two years which will become a professional Master (MMus) before 2010. Conservatorium Maastricht does not have a program of Doctorat. The conservatorium collaborates with two other faculties of art of the Zuyd university: Toneelacademie Maastricht (academy of the dramatic arts) and Academy Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht (ABKM, academy of beautiful arts). From 200? , Conservatorium will also have a co-operation with the faculty of arts and the culture of Universiteit Maastricht (University of Maastricht - UM). The conservatorium has international programmes of exchange with schools superiors of music in Europe like the Hochschule für Musik Köln (Cologne) (Germany), the royal Conservatoire of Brussels (Belgium), the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Vienna, the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz, (Austria) etc
History
- 19?? Creation of conservatorium.
- New building 1965 (Bonnenfantenstraat 15, architect P.H. Dingemans).
- 200? Conservatorium Maastricht becomes a faculty of the Université Zuyd.
- 200? Creation of the Zuid Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek for the program “Postgraduate”, in co-operation with Fontys Conservatorium.
