Conrad of Low-Lotharingie
Conrad de Germanie , born the February 12th 1074 with Hersfeld, dead the July 27th 1101, was duke of Low-Lotharingie and marquis de Turin of 1076 with 1087, king of the Romans of 1087 with 1098 and king d' Italie of 1093 with 1098. It was wire of the Germanic emperor Henri IV and of Berthe of Savoy.
Shortly after the interview of Canossa, it was recognized like heir to the Empire. His/her father gave him in prerogative the duchy of Low-Lotharingie and the marquisat of Turin. The duchy had been recovered by the emperor with died of the duke Godefroy III with the detriment of the heir to this last, Godefroy de Bouillon. As the young prince was only two years old, the regency of the duchy was entrusted to Albert III, count de Namur, which was named vice-duke. This same year 1076, it accompanied his father with Canossa. Conrad was left with the care of Théodbald, archbishop of Milan and remained in Italy. In 1087, it was elected king of the Romans and was crowned the May 30th with Aachen, which made officellement him to it heir to the Empire. Low Lotharingie was returned in Godefroy de Bouillon in 1087.
Under the influrence of the countess Mathilde of Tuscany, it was joined the papal camp and was opposed to his father. The pope Urbain II crowned it king d' Italie in 1093, and negotiated his marriage with a girl of Roger Ier de Hauteville, count de Sicile.
His/her father counter-attacked with the Diet of Mainz in April 1098 by depositing it and by designating as heir his other wire Henri. From this date, the influence of Corad in Italy decreased and he died in Florence in 1101.
