Conrad Ier d\' Oleśnica

Conrad 1st of Oleśnica (in Polish Konrad Oleśnicki ), from the dynasty of Piasts, was born between 1292 and 1298, and died the 27 or the December 28th 1366.

Conrad 1st of Oleśnica is Duc of Głogów and Large-Poland (1309 - 1312), duke of Oleśnica, Gniezno and Kalisz (1312 - 1313), duke of Namysłów (1313 - 1320/1), duke of Oleśnica and Namysłów (1320/1 - 1323), duke of Oleśnica (1323 - 1357), duke of Oleśnica and Kozielsk (1357-1366).

Biography

Conrad is the second wire of Henri {{III}} of Głogów and Mathilde of Brunswick. He is the brother of Henri {{IV}} Faithful the, of Jean de Ścinawa, Boleslas d' Oleśnica and Przemko {{II}} of Głogów. When his/her father dies the December 9th 1309, Conrad are found under the protection of his/her mother who ensures the Régence until in 1312.

The March 3rd 1310 with Berlin, Conrad takes part, with his/her brothers Henri and Boleslas, with the congress on the Poméranie de Gdańsk which they sell with the Margrave Hermann {{Ier}}. With the aim of have good relationships with the Brandebourg, they offer in pledge the areas of Krosno Odrzańskie and Żagań to the margrave (they will recover these territories in 1319).

The February 29th 1312, the heritage of his/her father is divided. Conrad and Boleslas obtain the oriental party of the paternal Duché (with Oleśnica, Namysłów and Kluczbork) as well as the areas of Kalisz and Gniezno. Henri, Jean and Przemko receive the areas of Głogów, of Ścinawa, Żagań and Large-Poland. Their mother preserves Głogów. The good agreement of Conrad with his/her brother does not last a year. In 1313, the two brothers separate and Conrad preserves Namysłów and Kalisz.

The situation of the heirs to Henri is precarious. In 1313, Conrad loses Kalisz following a revolt of the Noblesse. The same year, the dukes of Legnica seize Uraz. In 1314, being based on the local nobility which opposes a dismemberment territories of Henri, Ladislas {{Ier}} the Brief seizes most of Large Poland.

In 1320/1, when his/her Boleslas brother dies, Conrad seizes the duchy of Oleśnica. Whereas Ladislas the Brief and Boleslas {{III}} the Spendthrift undertake activities of plundering on the territory of the duchy of Oleśnica (of 1321 with 1323), Conrad marries Élizabeth, the girl of Henri {{VI}} the Good, thus drawing aside any threat coming from the duchy of Wrocław.

A peace treaty with Ladislas the Brief and Boleslas the Spendthrift is concluded with Cracow the August 10th 1323. Conrad recovers Wołow, Lubiąż and Smogorzów. In exchange, Conrad yields to the duchy of Namysłów to Boleslas the Spendthrift. In 1328, widower for one year, Conrad has married Euphémie, the girl of Ladislas, the duke of Kozielsk. The same year, it returns a Hommage of Vassalité to Jean of Luxembourg, the king de Bohême.

The summer 1343, the king Casimir {{III}} Large the lance an attack against Conrad, Henri {{V}} of Iron and Jean de Ścinawa. Conrad inflicts a defeat with the Polish army which was with the doors of Oleśnica and concludes a peace treaty with Casimir the Large one. In 1345, Conrad and its nephew Henri de Fer try without success to take again Wschowa with the Polish. In reprisals, the king de Pologne lance an attack against the duchy of Oleśnica.

The December 8th 1357, the duchy of Kozielsk and Bytom is divided between Conrad and Przemysl {{Ier}} Noszak. Conrad receives the area of Kozielsk. The following year, it buys Milicz with the évêché of Wrocław. Into 1359, the area of Bytom is divided between Conrad and Przemysl 1st Noszak. In 1361, after the death of Jean de Ścinawa, Conrad and Henri de Fer enter in conflict about the heritage. The disagreement is levelled only in 1365 thanks to the mediation of Louis {{Ier}} of Brzeg.

Death and succession

Conrad 1st of Oleśnica dies the 27 or the December 28th 1366. His/her son Conrad {{II}} the Gray shine succeeds.
