Connolly Station is one of the two principal stations of railroad of Dublin in Ireland. Located in the northern part of the city, the station serves the parts north (Dundalk then Belfast), northern west (Sligo) and south are country (Wexford and Rosslare). The line of DART crosses also the station. The station is also the seat of many services administrative of Iarnród Éireann, the national company of railroad.
The station was inaugurated the November 29th 1844 under the name of Amiens Street Station according to the street name on which it is located. In the beginning the station served only the line of train towards Drogheda and it is only in 1853 that it was prolonged until Belfast. In 1891, the authorities Irish inaugurated connection with Pearse Station to the south of the Liffey by throwing a metallic bridge over the river, which made it possible to connect directly Belfast with Wexford.
In 1966, for the 50eme birthday of the Insurrection of Easter 1916, the station was renamed in Connolly Station in homage to the Irish patriot and revolutionist James Connolly.
At the end of the Années 1990 the station was completely restored and rebuilt while inserting a retail park there and by reconsidering its accesses to serve the new district of business built along Liffey.
In 2004 the station is served by the Luas the new tram of the town of Dublin.
