Connerré
Connerré is a common French, located in the department of the the Sarthe and the area Pays of the Loire.
Its inhabitants is called Connerréens.
Geography
The town of Connerré is located at 23 kilometers in the east of the Mans, with 19 kilometers in the south-west of the Ferté-Bernard on the ex- Nationale 23 connecting it to Paris with 160 kilometers. The highway A11 passes to the north of the commune.The commune is served by the station of Connerré-Beillé with 1,5 kilometer of the downtown area. The end of LGV Atlantique is currently located on the commune.
The city is crossed by the Huisne and the Dué.
History
As of the Roman epoch, the locality is crossed by a way connecting Mans to Chartres. The borough and the church sat on an immense necropolis mérovingienne whose vast cemeteries were several times put at the day.Thus, in 1803, at the time of accidental excavations to the site of the old vault Holy-Anne, approximately 40 tombs mérovingiens are discovered.
In 1407, Charles VI, which had acquired the ground of Connerré de Bouchard de Courtremblay, in fact gift in the Saint-Julien chapter of Mans. The borough preserved close to the church some vestiges of its old enclosure. Built at the 16th century following an authorization granted by a letter of Henri III gone back to August 1578, it made it possible the locality to obtain the title of city. The purpose of its erection is principal to protect the commercial activity.
April 21st, 1731, the city is partly devastated by a fire which destroys 2 churches and 133 houses. Its geographical location makes of it a place of stage and trade.
Today, the commune is crossed by the road of Paris. Its commercial vocation knows its apogee at the 20th century. Thus, in the neighborhoods of the Years 1920, it is a very industrial commune, where 3 tanneries are exploited in particular, 2 factories of wire gauze and a pottery.
It is indeed at the beginning of the XXe century that it becomes the center of the Sarthe-native pottery. The installation of potters is certainly supported by the installation of the railroad in 1854.
It is also at this beginning of XXe century which Albert Lhuissier buys a small shop that it transforms into pork-butchery. It goes very quickly, by its direction of the businesses, to make commune the capital of the rillettes.

- the House Plum tree since 1931 (specialities top-of-the-range porkbutchers, of which rillettes of the mans)

Famous characters
- Albert Lhuissier and Maurice Plum tree, developer of the rillettes of more known Connerré under the name of rillettes of Mans.

"Lucie" known as Frog which according to the legend a witch of the Middle Ages (XIII century) alive in a tower of the famous wall of was connerré, it had as a characteristic to crush the pigs in a marmitte in order to prepared a mixture which returned depending the connerréens of which it had then control. It mourru always according to the legend drowned in the Due one (river passing in connerré) pushed by a Goat pertaining to Louis Plum tree Gueux cousin of Jean de France and direct ancestor of Maurice Plum tree, because jealous of the popularity of Lucie.

Access: Departures of the station TransVap de Connerré-Beillé (on other side of SNCF railway station).
Schedules: Every Sunday and festivals of July and August, departure with 10:45, 11:45 and 15:00, and departure of Bonnétable to 11:50 and 13:30.
Material: Two engines with English vapor 020T “saddle-tank” of 1917 and 030T Corpet-Louvet of 1923 ex-Collieries of the Cevennes, were given in service after integral revision, but seriously damaged at the time of a fire which has occurred in April 1997. Thanks to a " mobilization générale" the voluntary ones, shouldered by a private company of the Mans, 030 T Corpet-Louvet was given in state for the season 1998. As for 020 T English, the financial montage of its rebuilding is in hand (new boiler and wheels). The tractor drawn oar is composed of two Swiss cars ex-Valley of Through, of two Swiss vans " Spoutnik" , sometimes shouldered by two trailers of rail-cars XR repainted in green and cream. Two rail-cars Billiards n°901 and 903 of 80 ch de l' old company M.St.C and the rail-car “Picasso” the X 3953 ex-SNCF which ensured the service road of Fécamp ensure rotations diesel., as well as a coupling of coaches on rails Verney, witnesses of the tests carried out in the years 1950 to maintain the passenger traffic on M.St.C.
Three power trolleys (of which Y 2228 arrived at the end of 1997 on the network to replace its " frère" also destroyed in the fire), three line inspection cars and about fifteen coaches of the various type (oldest of France and classified) as two cranes on rails of 1869 supplement the park.
Buildings: In 2001, a station was built in Beillé, was separated from that of the SNCF Connerré-Beillé by the ways of the traditional line Paris - Mans. The Department of the the Sarthe, by supporting association by the construction of this station in traditional style, wishes to develop the tourist activity and to develop the inheritance after the fire of the workshop of origin of the M.St.C network of April 1997.
History: Transvap association exploits since 1979 a section of 17 km of the departmental line with normal way Mamers - St-Calais, closed at the end of 1977. It serves the water level of Tuffé, reached Prévelles, then after having crossed a forest, leads to Bonnétable whose station presents a small museum on the old line of Mamers in St-Calais.
