Connacht Rugby
Connacht Rugby is a provincial selection Irish of Rugby to XV taking part in the Celtic League.
History
The federation of Rugby of Connacht is founded in 1885 by six clubs (Ballinasloe, Castlebar, Galway Town, Galway Grammar School, Queen College Galway, Ranelagh School Athlone). Only Ballinasloe (amalgamated in Buccaneers RFC), Castlebar and Queens College (called NUIG today) are always in existence.19 clubs are affiliated with this federation, of which four evolve/move in one of three divisions of the national championship, the All Ireland League (Buccaneers RFC, Galwegians, Connemara RFC, Corinthians).
The lack of manpower due to the weak population of the area makes that Connacht is historically weakest of the four provinces of Irish Rugby.
