Conjecture chronological protection

The chronological conjecture of protection is a formulation of Stephen Hawking translating impossibility of travelling in time. As its name indicates it, it means that Stephen Hawking thinks that the Voyage in time is impossible, even if in the actual position of knowledge the General relativity says that there exist theoretically possibilities of building holes of worm making it possible to go up time. Stephen Hawking explains why an attempt at curve of the space time aiming at creating such a passage would be fallen through by the fluctuations of quantum fields. One can in the same way explain as if only one particle entered such a passage, it could " revenir" to enter again the passage, which would thus be seen crossed by an infinite quantity of energy. It is a problem similar to the Effet Larsen.

Other physicists take again the conjecture of Stephen Hawking with other arguments. Etienne Klein for its part adopts this conjecture in the name of the Law of causality.

This conjecture ensures that the temporal paradoxes will never be posed. But in current physics, the law of causality is a Axiome: if it seems to rise from formal logic, that does not want to say that it is proven.

Beyond the technical argument against the holes of worm, the chronological conjecture of protection is to some extent a profession of faith in favor of the law of causality: the restricted Relativité made it possible to prohibit any attempt at voyage in time provided that the Speed of light is indépassable. Kurt Gödel has the shown first that the General relativity leaves the door half-opened with the voyage in time. By stating its conjecture, Stephen Hawking as well means its hope of discovered of new basic principle which would definitively prohibit to violate causality, in general relativity as in Quantum physics (in this branch of physics, certain phenomena - Paradoxe EPR and Expérience of Marlan Scully - are difficult to explain without giving the impression to violate causality).
