The Coniagui country is located at the North-West of the Fouta Djallon, in an area of low hills. The principal locality is Koundara, chief town of prefecture where Coniaguis are from now on minority. Coniaguis also emigrate towards the urban centres of Guinea and Senegal, remaining majority only in one very restricted area geographically, around the old prefecture Youkounkoun.
