Congress of Metz

This historical congress of the Socialist party, from April 6th to 8th 1979, sees the confrontation of François Mitterrand and the Second Left incarnated by Michel Rocard. The first, holding of a line on the left in spite of the rupture of the common Program by the Communist party in 1977, leaves victorious thanks to its alliance with CERES Jean-Pierre Chevènement, against the alliance of Michel Rocard with Pierre Mauroy.
