Congregation of Saint-Valve and Saint-Hydulphe

The congregation bénédictine of Saint-Valve and Saint-Hydulphe was founded in 1604 on the initiative of Dom Didier of the Court, prior of the Saint-Valve abbey of Verdun and reformer of the Ordre of saint Benoît after the Concile of Thirty. The Benedictines of the Congregation of Saint-Valve and Saint-Hydulphe are sometimes called Vannistes .

History

This congregation, removed with the French revolution, counted among its members of eminent scholars such Dom Calmet, Dom Jean Francois, Dom Nicolas Tabouillot and Dom Ambroise Pelletier.
