Congolese legislative election of July 2006

The legislative elections of the Congo-Kinshasa are envisaged at the same time as the presidential election, the July 30th 2006. The Independent electoral commission validated 9500 candidatures (of which 8757 were published in the lists) for the legislative elections for 500 seats to be provided. Two thirds are elected with the list system proportional. Seulelement thirteen parties introduce candidates in the eleven provinces: PPRD (496 candidates); MLC (448), RCD-Gummed (365); Social movement for the Revival (376); Forces of the Revival (270); Christian Democrat (210); UREC and Allied (205); PALU (198); Camp of the Fatherland (193); PANU (191); platform Rebirth (173); Private MPR-fact (116) and UDPS-Ngoy Mukendi (60).

Parties and candidates

Some 203 political parties have candidates arising for the legislative elections, nearly 702 candidates are independent through the country.

Results

The partial results published by the CEI indicate a great number of seats obtained by the PPRD, the MLC, the PALU, the MSR, the Forces of the revival and the RCD.
