History
The name of “Conflans” comes from the Latin , confluens , confluence. The village received the name of “Holy-Honorine” after 1200 whereas the relics of holy are there since 876.Prehistory
- Site inhabited as of the Neolithic time, one discovered there in 1872 a shady walk which was transported to the Musée of national archeology of Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer, and in 1882, another burial of the age of iron close to the first station of Conflans in the district End-in Oise.
-
Site of a camp strengthened starting from VIIIe century and extreme limit in the west of the royal field, the bishop of Paris acquires of it the seigniory in the middle of IXe century, to impose upon the bishops Rouen and of Chartres. The bishop entrusts this stronghold to the counts of Beaumont (on Oise).
- In 876, following an incursion of the Viking S, the relics of Sainte Honorine are brought of Graville (today district of the Havre) to Conflans. They are deposited initially close to the wood castle in what was undoubtedly the first place of worship of the village. A priory, served by monks sent of Normandy by the abbot of the Nozzle-Hellouin, Anselme of the Nozzle, future archbishop of Canterbury, more known under the name of Anselme saint, Doctors of the Church, is founded in 1080. This priory is built little by little on a height in the east of the castrum . But, between 1080 and 1085, a feudal war bursts between Mathieu de Beaumont, lord of the place, and its brother-in-law Bouchard de Montmorency who estimates themselves injured in the heritage of the father of Mathieu. The wood castle burns. Withdrawn from accuracy of the small church on fire close to the castle, the relics are transferred in the very new church from the Priory, in 1086 (the prior becomes also lord of part of the parish of Conflans and much of other grounds which will come to enlarge the possessions of the priory). The monks leave their priory before the end of XVe century but there will be a prior until the Révolution of 1789).
- Bouchard obtains rights on the incomes of the stronghold of Conflans and thus becomes laic Co-lord about it. Two stone castles were then built, one for Beaumont, sits of the baronnie until the Revolution and, one century and half later, a second for the Montmorency. It will be called “Castle-nine”. There remains only oldest today, Romance keep called the Tour Montjoie or Tour of Ganne or Baronnie .
- In 1271, Mathieu IV of Montmorency remains the only lord, the Beaumont last not having a heir. The Montmorency will remain lords until in 1632 with eclipses because the stronghold was sold to other lords but was repurchased by the Constable Anne de Montmorency. After the decapitation of the duke Henri II, revolted against Louis XIII and Richelieu and carried out with Toulouse, the stronghold will pass to Large the Condé, husband of the sister of Henri de Montmorency.
