the confederation of Livonie was an old country of Europe, which currently corresponds to the Latvia and the Estonia.

It was made up of 5 states:

  • the order of Livonie (1202-1561) Capital: Cat-like (today Viljandi)
  • the archbishop's palace of Riga (1255-1561) Capital: Riga
  • évéché of Dorpat (1234-1558 the) Capital one: Dorpat (today Tartu)
  • the évéché of Ösel-Wiek (1228-1560) Capital: Hapsal (today Haapsalu)
  • évéché of Courlande (1234-1583 the) Capital one: Piltene

History

In 1346, the confederation buys Estonia of North to the Denmark, for 10 ' 000 marks.

The confederation does not survive the war of Livonie (1558-1582), the country was divided between the Sweden (which obtains Estonia of the North, old the Danish Estonia), the Denmark which obtains the island of Saaremaa, the union Sports shirt-Lithuanian obtains Estonia méridoniale, the Vidzeme and the Latgale and the Duché of Courlande (vassal of Poland-Lithuania) obtain sovereignty on the Courlande and from the Zemgale.
