Concerto for piano n° 1 of Brahms

The concerto for piano nº 1 in minor D , COp 15 , of Johannes Brahms is one of both Concerto S for Piano of the German Compositeur . It is composed of three movements which require about fifty minutes of execution:

  1. Maestoso - Poco piu moderato (24 ')
  2. Adagio (14 ')
  3. Rondo (Allegro my nontroppo - Piu animato - Tempo I) (12 ')
After a long gestation, this early work of Brahms (made up starting from 1854 whereas it was 21 years old) was created the January 22nd 1859 with Hanover by the type-setter with the piano. It was a mitigated success, the critics greeting more pianistic qualities of Brahms that its music, considered to be “incomprehensible”. Rejoué five days later with Leipzig, the concerto was then copiously whistled. It took twenty years for Brahms so that it recovers to compose a new concerto for the piano, that known nowadays under the nº 2.
