The Concert of sacred music is a unit French specialized in the interpretation of the Baroque music on old instruments.
History
The current formation was founded in 1987 by Herve Niquet.As of 2006, the Sipirituel Concert is in residence with Montpellier and associates its musical projects with those of the city and the area.
The Concert of sacred music is subsidized by the Senate and the Ministry for the Culture and the Communication. The Town of Paris and the District council of Lorraine support also the Concert of sacred music which takes an active part in their musical life and the development of their inheritance.
Discography
The Concert of sacred music was named with the Grammy Awards for the Sérénades at Marie Leczinska of Boismortier. Moreover, some of its recordings were selected by the Sunday Times or Gramophone , and Herve Niquet received the Edison Price for his recording of Water Music and Royal Firework Music of Haendel, interpreted for the first time in a historical version with 100 musicians (9 horn players, 9 natural trumpets, 24 oboes, 15 flutes, 12 bassoons, 2 double bassoons, 3 drinking cups and 42 cords) of the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam in May 2004.
